Eugene Poggio, Ph.D., Founder, President, and Chief Biostatistician. Gene earned a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley, as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley. He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. Gene’s primary expertise is in the design and analysis of clinical trials. He has extensive experience in Phase 1-4 trials in a wide range of therapeutic areas. His role as Chief Biostatistician at BCI focuses on strategic statistical consulting and review. He represents clients at FDA and at regulatory agencies in Europe, Japan, and Canada.

Roger Johnson, Ph.D., Director of Biostatistics. Roger earned a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University of New Mexico, as well as a M.S. in Statistics from Florida State University. He has also taught mathematics and statistics at the university level. He has almost 30 years of experience in the industry, working for both sponsors and CROs. He has experience with drugs, biologics, and devices in a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Much of Roger’s work is in the design of clinical trials, including sample size calculations, writing statistical sections of protocols, and developing statistical analysis plans, of which he has done hundreds. When needed, he can perform mathematical statistics derivations and conduct simulations. He also has extensive experience in the analysis of clinical trials.

Rong Lin, M.D., M.P.H., Associate Director of Biostatistics. Rong earned an M.P.H. with an Epidemiology major from Yale University, as well as a Master’s Degree of Biomedicine with a Neuroscience major from the University of Connecticut and medical degrees from West China University of Medical Sciences. She has 12 years of industry experience. She too has experience with drugs, biologics, and medical devices in a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Rong oversees the conduct of many of the analyses performed at BCI, including the production of tables, listings, and figures. She is a CDISC (especially ADaM) expert.

Other Staff Members. Other team members are biostatisticians and statistical programmers at various levels, all of whom have advanced degrees in statistics or a closely related field. These staff members have been selected for their academic achievements, their clinical trial experience, and their commitment to quality and timeliness.
